/// The female inhaled & exhaled, taking in the delicious smell of freshly cooked food. Aqua eyes scanned the little restaurant for a decent place to sit. A hand ran through her ebony tendrils, digits combing any knots or gnarls. Violette finally took a seat near the window, watching the puffy summer clouds roll. Left over summer rains drizzled down the glass.
A waitress made her way over to Vi's table, a smile streched upon her facial features. [ Can I get you anything, ma'am? ] she asked politely, a patient tone set on her face. Violette had never been a people's person. Well, she'd never actually interacted with people often except for her family members. Being cooped up in a farm house was not the best idea Vio had in mind. But she dealt with it.
[ Uhm, a pickle & some lemonade, please. ] Violette said politely. Eyes slowly making their way up to the waitress's face, not quite comfortable with making eye contact. A small smile grew on her facial expressions. [ Alright, your order's comin' up. ] The waitress said and spun on her heels. Her flowy skirt following behind slowly. Vi gave a small sigh in relief, happy that the short conversation was over. She tried to be as friendly as possible.
The drizzled stopped on the window & she glanced around, looking for something else to gaze at. A tuft of charcoal tresses irritated her eye, causing her to blow them away gently. She exhaled one more time and scanned over the menu. Lots of choices with pickles in it. It was nice because she absolutely loved pickles. Purple converse scuffed the floor as she shifted the position of her legs, getting more comfortable as she would be here for possibly a long time.

Rowena Elizabeth Phyte Rowena started to run down the walkway when the rain began to pour down. When she had started her walk it was nothing but a mere drizzle, but now the rain was starting to pick up. "Why?!" she asked herself. It always seemed that things got worse when she was around. It was almost like curse.
Before the rain could get any worse, Rowena dashed into the nearest restraunt, which happened to be Pickle's Place. She had only been there once before, and she never even tried their food. Butof course, right when Rowena got into the restraunt, the rain stopped. She let out an exasperated sigh and pushed her wet, blonde hair out of her face. Great. She looked like she just came out of someone's swimming pool. Her make up was probably all washed off too.
Rowena scanned the restraunt, feeling very out of place. She began to walk around, looking for a place to sit. Not one open seat. Why was this place so bloody full? Last time she was in here it was the same way, packed full. The only way she got a seat was because she asked a girl who was sitting by herself if she could share the table. There was an idea! Maybe it would work again.
Rowena's unusual eyes scanned the tables and booths until she found something. After several minutes of searching and walking around, she saw a girl, about her age, sitting by herself. Maybe she'll let me sit with her. Rowena thought. Hey it was worth a shot. Worst she could do was say no and send Rowena in search of another spot.
She approached the ebony haired girl with a small smile on her face. "Hey, do y'mind if I grab a seat?" she asked. "There's nothing else open so yeah." she said quietly, not making any eye contact with the seated girl. Rowena never liked to make eye contact because of, well, her eyes. Each eye was its own colour, which made people stare at them. Rowena didn't like that. If her eyes could only be the same colour, she wouldn't have to worry about that.

/// The place was scurrying with other human beings, but she didn't seem to mind. Her pickle would be here, she would eat & then leave. Bright cerulean eyes scanned the room quickly, just wondering who was in the same room as her. A drenched female--about the same age as her--opened the door to the restaurant. The jingling of the bells made Violette's eyes flicker up.
The girl's eyes jogged around the room, probably looking for a place to sit. What a shame. It was packed. She walked into Vi's direction, and her heart skipped a beat. She didn't want a conversation right now. Nor did she want to have someone sit next to her. But people skills. She thought. If Vio ever wanted money she'd need people skills. & here was a perfect time to practice.
The female let out a sigh, preparing. She looked up at the girl's face, facial expressions trying their best to tug into a small smile. [ oh, sure. ] she tried to be as friendly as possible. [ it seems like this place is popular ] Violette said, trying to make a decent conversation. Vi moved her stuff from the seat next to her to under her seat, so the nice girl could sit. [ oh, i'm violette by the way, call me whatever you wish. ] Vi said, looking at the table.

Rowena Elizabeth Phyte Rowena turned her attention back to the girl when she commentd on how bust the restraunt was. "Yeah, it is." she agreed. "Last time I was in here it was exactly the same, maybe even more so. I had to find a seat the same way." Rowena commented. She always found it easy to talk to all sorts of people. She just seemed to be gifted with a very personable personality, just like her father had been. Or so she was told.
Rowena waiedt patiently while the girl took her belongings off the seat next to her and put them on the floor, so Rowena would have a place to sit down. She had never seen this girl around town, the barns, or on school grounds before. She must be another new student. One of the ones who came in the weeks closer to the start of school.
Rowena sat down once the seat was cleared and said "Thanks." to the girl. The girl then introduced herself as Violette, but she said that Rowena could call her whatever she wanted. "Nice to meet ya Violette. I'm Rowena." Rowena said, offereing her hand to the girl. After a moment of silence Rowena decided to break it with a question. "So Violette, are you new around here? I mean I've never seen you around town, at any of the barns, or at the school." But then again that didn't mean that Violette hadn't been here the whole time.

/// Vi took the girl's hand--whose name was supposedly Rowena--and shook it gently, barely grasping it. [ Nice to meet you, Rowena. ] Violette gave a shy smile and glanced over at the waitress who was still taking orders, curious when her pickle & lemonade was coming. Bright optics shifted back to Rowena, who seemed to have unique eyes. [ Yeah, I'm new. Just moved here from Maine. ] She replied and began ripping apart a napkin, fiddling.
The female's gaze stayed on her mutilated napkin, as there was a great pause. Again. [ So uhh, how long have you been here? ] Vi was actually quite curious. Her eyes slowly drifted back up to Rowena, not making eye contact though. Vio could tell that she was uncomfortable with that, so she didn't bother.
Legs shifted their positions, getting uncomfortable with sitting down for a while. Her feet were beginning to get numb. She shook it off and looked up to Rowena with a smile, patiently waiting for an answer as she kept pealing apart her scrawny napkin.

Rowena Elizabeth Phyte Rowena could tell that Violette was shy right from the beginning. In fact, she wondered if the girl would even speak to her. But now that Rowena was here, sitting with Violette, she could tell that she was curious. Rowena always had a good sense of other people's emotions.
Violette then said that she had just moved to Howe from Maine. "Well welcome to Howe then." Rowena said. "I mean it's not the most exciting town, but it works." she noted, looking around for a waiter or waitress that she could wave over. They seriously needed to hire more staff. If the restaurant was always busy like this, it would pay to have more since they could get people in and out faster.
Rowena noticed the Vi had started to pull at her napkin before she asked Rowena how long she had been in Howe. "Oh for maybe two months." she said with a wave of her hand. "My mother insisted that I come at the very beginning of summer so I could 'get to know people'. I would've been fine just coming a week before school." Rowena was glad to be away from her over protective mother and her eccentric aunt Kendra.
Rowena finally manged to wave one of the waitresses over and ordered a soda and a chicken sandwich with chips. "You attending school here?" Rowena asked Vi. It occurred to her that she wasn't even here for the world renowned school.

/// [Yeah, I am. This town seems nice. Lots of places to go & visit. It's more entertaining then my boring 'ole town. ] A small chuckle slid past her lips, still shy. The waitress placed down her specially spiced pickle & lemonade. [ Thanks. ] Violette murmured, loud enough for the waitress to hear though. She nodded & went off to her work again. Vi decided to wait for Rowena to get her food, considering that it was rude to eat in front of her. Vio just gave a small smile & began sipping at her chilled beverage.
[ Wow, ] Vi said, noting that she'd never be able to make friends & get comfortable in a totally different town in just a week. [ I could never get on my feet that fast. ] Violette said, spinning the ice cubes around with her green straw. She wasn't too happy about leaving her comfort zone. But it was for the best. She was sick of being cooped up but didn't want to leave at the same time. Vi let out a small sigh, getting weary of sitting down so much.
[ You excited for school? ] She asked, curious about whether she was or not. Probably excited. But she had to keep the conversation going so there wasn't a long pause like earlier.

Rowena Elizabeth Phyte Violette must have come from a pretty boring place, if she thought that this was more exciting. But then again, Rowena had come from a large city, so the two girls both had different perspectives on what was considered 'boring' or not. Rowena had to admit, she had met some very interesting and fun people in Howe so far, so she couldn't complain too much. Plus the countryside here was gorgeous to ride in.
Violette's food and drink was brought to the table. Rowena frowned a bit, hoping that they wouldn't take forever and a day to get her food to her. She was quite hungry from running through the rain. Speaking of that, she was starting to dry off now, thank God. Sitting in a diner looking like you just jumped in a lake was no fun. Very itchy too.
Rowena looked at Vi when she commented that she could never get on her feet that quick. Rowena wasn't surprised. Most people couldn't. "Me 'n' my mum have moved almost yearly to different parts of the country, or sometime world, so I had to learn to adapt and make friends fast." Rowena told Vio. She never understood why her mother insisted they move so much, but that's how it had been since she was eight years old. Now she was here herself and her mother was back home. Well the most recent home.
"Yeah I'm kinda excited." Rowena said, answering Violette's question. "How 'bout you?" she asked in return.
